Meet the Author

Do you talk to animals?

I do. I always have.  I say ‘hello’ to dogs I pass on the street, ‘good morning’ to donkeys and cows in the field, and ‘how are you?’ to the hens that rush to the fence when I arrive with food scraps.  And I wonder what they’re thinking—about their relationships with other hens and animals, what they worry about, what makes them happy.
Not really expecting a reply, my mother would always say, “What if they answered you?”
I’d be thrilled, of course.
Now, a lifetime later, I’m a granny.  Well, sort of.  But I’ll explain that later.  A book-writing granny.  As I walk my two dogs every morning, they seem to tell me stories that, for years, have been bursting to be told.  Smuggler Dogs is the first book to be born into the world.

Weez Flynn

Weez. Short for Louise. It was my baby-name all those hundreds of years ago when I couldn’t say my name properly, and it stuck.

I’m English and I’m a writer.

As I wrote that, I had to stop for a moment—I’m honestly amazed that I can now call myself a writer!
I live in the French countryside with my two dogs, one cat, four goats (who keep the garden under control!), and a horse named Skye.

I believe in sharing the truth about my life because I think you might enjoy hearing about some of the experiences I’ve had.
Even though I don’t have children of my own, I’m very close to my husband’s grown-up kids and grandchildren. Sadly, my husband passed away a few years ago, but it makes me happy that they still visit me regularly.
